“When we are young, the words are scattered all around us.
As they are assembled by experience, so also are we,
sentence by sentence, until the story takes shape.” – Louise Erdrich
Jill Fuller is a former award-winning Girl Scout cookie seller, nursing home candy striper, yearbook co-editor, grammar tutor, survey research specialist, statistics consultant, university educator, and NICHD study center manager who, after helping a faculty fellow prepare three grant proposals in 2013, caught the fundraising fever and became a grant proposal writer in 2014. (Jill is also a sociologist. Her doctoral and M.S. degrees are from the University of Virginia. Her B.A. is from Presbyterian College, where she majored in English and sociology.)
Some months into her role as a full-time grant writer and waiting to hear outcomes of several proposals already submitted, Jill ran into a former co-worker. When she told him about her new job, he asked, "Well, are you a grant writer, or a grant getter?"
Jill is pleased to report that she is a "grant getter." See Portfolio Results and Select Success Stories.
